Mazatlan is called the Pearl of the Pacific. It rests on a peninsula on the Pacific Coast of Mexico pointing towards the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula. It is known, among other things, for its excellent sea fishing and fishing tournaments, but that is hardly the highlight that makes it such a great romantic escape. The romance comes from the Old World, festive atmosphere throughout the city of Mazatlan, which made a majestic place for itself as an important Mexican port even before the tourist industry discovered its treasure.
This treasure starts with classic architecture, Old World churches, buildings, and walkways situated at the foot of the Sierra Madre mountain range and flanked by miles of beautiful Pacific Coast. The activities are endless in Mazatlan but the pace is natural. A true industrial port city first, Mazatlan lives and breathes Mexican culture and activity. It extends a genuine hand of hospitality because of the wealth of its attraction - not a painted-on atmosphere filled with tourists only.
For a romantic escape, nothing beats the call of the sand and sun or the cool Pacific waters. They are perfect for surfing, snorkeling and other water sports, or horseback riding and long walks on the beach. The only thing equal to it might be the embrace of Old World romance on the city streets. Mazatlan offers both as well as rock climbing, hiking, and exotic nightlife. It's packed with locations perfect for weddings, honeymoons, and classic romantic getaways.
