Playa Del Carmen
New York City isn't the only tourist destination with a famous Fifth Avenue. Playa Del Carmen is a popular little city south of Cancun on the coast of Mexico that shares some of the most beautiful ocean waters on the globe with the islands of the Caribbean. More of a walkway than a street, Quinta Avenida (Fifth Avenue) is the delightful stretch of shops, restaurants, bars, clubs, hotels, and cafes that make Playa Del Carmen the appealing Caribbean playground that it is.
The beaches around Playa Del Carmen are perfect for relaxing under an umbrella shade, sharing lunch by the calm, blue water, or taking an afternoon dip in its coolness. The Caribbean waters nearby are part of the Great Mayan Reef and therefore perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving. Cancun is a short drive north, Cozumel and the charming Isla Mujeres are a ferry ride away, and ancient Mayan ruins wait to be explored nearby. If Playa Del Carmen has anything, it's location. It is a beautiful Mexican-Caribbean getaway with proximity to many worthy attractions.
